The Boardgamegeek store offers a replacement, plus a bonus.
- New Five Tribes printings replace slave cards with fakir.
- Fakir have same abilities as slaves.
- If you already own Five Tribes, you can buy a replacement set of cards for $5.
All future installments of Five Tribes will replace the slave card in the marketplace with fakir (a snake charmer). The fakir has the same ability as the slave card – useful to pay the cost of some Djinn abilities. The only differences are the name and the art.
If you already own Five Tribes and have an issue with the slave cards as part of the game, you can now order a replacement on the BGG store for $5.
Kind of sucks to have to pay for this switch if you want it, though I’m not certain how many were really clamoring for a change. In any event, the $5 charge also earns you a bonus of a new Djinn named Dhenim. This Djinn, worth six VP at game’s end provides a gold coin whenever you scoop up a yellow vizier and two coins whenever someone else does so.
