Fantasy Grounds, a virtual tabletop tool available for $40. From there, you’ll also need to purchase various Dungeons & Dragons 5E packs, such as the Core Monster Pack, each of which costs the same as the physical rule book. That’s a pretty pricey proposition, but for those who want to invest, Fantasy Grounds is a great tool.
The first adventure pack is now available, The Lost Mine of Phandelver. The good news is that Dungeon Masters can also share their license with players, meaning you won’t need everyone to buy the Character packs to play.
Polygon is reporting that virtual campaigns for Hoard of the Dragon Queen, Rise of the Tiamat, and Princes of the Apocalypse are in development.
For those who want to play with old friends separated by several states (maybe several continents), Fantasy Grounds seems like a good option.
