In the comic book Chew, cop Tony Chu has a special power. A weird one. He is “cibopathic” – he’s a psychic who gets his impressions by eating things. It’s an off-beat comic for sure and IDW Games is promising that the upcoming card game Chew: Cases of the FDA will match that tone.
Chew: Cases of the FDA promises some real authenticity as it features art from Rob Gillory (who pencils the comic) and card text by Chew creator and writer John Layman.
The game itself was developed by Kevin Wilson (Descent, Arkham Horror). And while many of Wilson’s previous games are lengthy and complex, Chew: Cases of the FDA is billed as a light, 30-minute game for 2-5 players.
Those who pre-order Chew from their local games shop will get a variant edition of Chew #1 (featuring the art from the game’s cover) and 20 Chog plastic minis. Whoa whoa – what the heck is a “Chog” you ask. In the world of Chew, chicken has been outlawed. So, through the miracle of science, frog DNA was altered to taste like chicken. Hence, the Chog. Om nom nom.
