Imperial Settlers’s first expansion, Why Can’t We Be Friends?, recently hit store shelves. That expansion added new cards and a new gameplay mechanic for existing factions. The second Settlers expansion will be the first to add a completely new faction into the mix and it sounds pretty awesome. Imperial Settlers: Atlanteans adds the titular faction and they will play differently than any other in the game.
Atlanteans bring with them a new resource, Technology, so powerful that only their faction knows how to utilize it. Some new cards for other factions can unlock special abilities based on this tech, but it’s really the Atlanteans that will rule this new resource. So here’s the twist that makes the Atlanteans really interesting. At the end of the game, all of their faction buildings sink and won’t score any points. So whoever plays the Atlanteans will need to find different ways to score before their entire civilization goes glub glub glub.
Imperial Settlers: Atlanteans also adds the option to play with five players. Previously Imperial Settlers was only a four-player game.
- New faction board
- Atlanteans faction deck
- Technology tokens
- Expansion cards for original factions (that compliment Atlantean abilities)
You can pick up a copy of Imperial Settlers: Atlanteans at Gen Con 2015 or at your local game store in August.
